This series presents information based in part on theory and conjecture. The producer’s purpose is to suggest some possible explanations, but not necessarily the only ones, to the mysteries we will examine.
~In Search Of …1970s TV show opening blurb
In Search Of… opened each week with Leonard Nimoy reading those words before the show took a look at some mystery or concept. It seems like a good approach for a blog, and perhaps a good thought to keep in mind whenever reading information from the internet. The writer’s purpose is always to suggest some possible explanations or perspectives to consider, not believing it’s the end-all be-all on any idea.
The In Search Of… show has been renewed a couple of times and is currently airing new episodes. The idea for this blog isn’t to mimic the show closely or to try to steal its thunder. It’s more about a mindset to bring to the topics here. These days we live with information overload—getting hit from all sides with notions that are based on theory or conjecture. People seem so ready to tear each other down that they never consider another perspective, but the only way to test new ideas is to put stuff out there to see if it leads to better explanations.
This In Search Of… blog is a space to explore premises, promises, and possibilities. It might get weird or uncomfortable at times, but the whole idea goes back to exploring mysteries and maybe opening new avenues and perspectives. Perhaps it will be much ado about nothing, but the idea is to try to rekindle a time when things felt new and possibilities seemed endless.
